Houston- October 12, 2022 — Honoree CEOs and founders Craig Taylor of Iapetus Holdings LLC, Danny Signorelli of The Signorelli Company, and Fadi Agour of Best Case Leads, represented 215 greater-Houston area businesses on the 2022, 2021 and 2020 Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing privately owned companies last week on a panel discussion on entrepreneurship hosted by the Greater Houston Partnership (GHP). The discussion, kicked off by Bob Harvey, President & CEO, GHP and moderated by Katie Pryor, GHP Chief Development Officer and Senior Vice President Member Engagement, was held during a reception at Partnership Tower in downtown Houston on October 6th and attended by close to 100 Houston-area honorees as well as the event’s sponsors, Southwest Airlines, Insperity and Partners. The GHP stated the Inc. 5000 2022 companies recognized from just the Houston area boast over $11 billion in total revenues and they’ve added over 6,000 jobs.
According to Harvey, “The companies being honored tonight certainly play a major part in broadening the base of the high growth, disruptive segment of our economy, and this has helped drive a lot of our industries. This is not just related to those companies, this is the impact they have on our broader economy. The growth across these industries is essential to Houston’s ability to support a strong business climate and create opportunity for the truly innovative companies of today and the future.”
The three honorees talked about how and why they chose the Houston region as the right location for business. They also discussed what they believe has been most influential in leading to their success as one of the fastest growing companies in the region, their biggest obstacles or to start or grow their businesses, how they overcome the obstacles. Signorelli shared the story about raking up $100,000 in credit card debt to start his business. The session closed with advice to other entrepreneurs.
Taylor stated, “There is no book that you can go to that answers these questions. You can go to business school… you have got to get in there and start a company and deal with the blows. A Mike Tyson quote that I say a lot is ‘Everyone’s got a plan until they get punched in the face. As an entrepreneur, you are getting hit in the face so many times over and over and you sort of get this callus that forms so it doesn’t upset you as much and you realize that what you really have to do is push through. The thing that probably has influenced my life and my approach to business more than anything is else was something that I learned in the U.S. military. That was true accountability for myself. Responsibility and accountability for me—to recognize ‘was I there, did I see something, did I hear something, and what did I do. Instead of ‘It was this, it was that’. At the end of the day, we are responsible for where we stand.”
